Share Awareness

I’m sitting here at a gym meet, on a typical Friday night, getting ready to watch UA compete against UGA.
The gymnastics meets are always super fun and the crowd is very energetic.
But, tonight is different.
Tonight is Power of Pink night, the 20th anniversary. It’s a night celebrate all the breast cancer fighters.
The lights outside of Coleman Coliseum are pink, the lights inside are pink.
The gymnasts are wearing pink leotards, the fans are wearing pink shirts.
Pink pins are being given away, as well as pink shakers for the crowd to shake during the competition.
Even the ones on the floor are pink.
But I’m sitting here, way up in the stands, with a tear in my eye.
Breast cancer awareness is important.
It’s important that we raise money for their research and ultimately a cure.
But, when have you seen an organization celebrate childhood cancer in this capacity?
Because I never have.
This is why we fight.
We fight for childhood cancer research. We fight for childhood cancer cures. We fight for childhood cancer awareness.
Childhood cancer awareness deserves to be recognized because these children AND families are fighting for their lives.
And no child should ever die from cancer.
Make an impact. Share awareness. Be Gold Strong. 🎗️
